Forever Sassy

Many, many years ago a cat named Henry invited my sibling Jessie to visit his website called The Back Fence Cat Club. She went to visit out of curiosity, and was astonished to find a club dedicated just to cats. A few months later they announced the Halloween Costume Contest. New to the internet and never having been in a costume contest for a cat before she had no idea how to make a outfit for the contest. So my mom took the witches costume off the duck outside by the front door and put it on her and took a picture. Mom tried to sit Jessie in the chair, but Jessie kept falling over, she suddenly became limp as a rag with the costume on, so Mom propped Jessie up in a corner of the chair and that was our very first halloween costume.

Over the years we worked very hard at making great costumes, then Jessie got wedwinked to the handsome Day-Late and they always went as a couple.

Of course I eventually wanted to have a costume too, then Right and Left need costumes, etc, etc, etc. But every year we all wanted to win that elusive Grand Prize, I think between all of us over the last 10 years or so, we have won every prize there was to win, all the way up to First Prize, but never that top prize...the Grand Prize. Each year we would try to outdo ourselves, I HAD to have that prize. Jessie was Supergirl, a flapper, a pumpkin, chiquita banana girl, I was a flower, pumpkin, space cat and on and on and on.

One year Jessie just couldn't make anything that satisfied her and couldn't find anything that Day-Late liked, so she just said "to heck with it" and made biker costumes for them. You will never guess what happened next! Yup! They won the Grand Prize. Everyone was so happy and danced around the room and made the whole house crazy with our celebrations at winning that elusive big prize.

But the funny thing is, we are still trying to make that purrfect Halloween Costume. Mom made me a costume this year. Of all things in the world she chose was a ladybug outfit. I am just thrilled with the whole thing, can't you tell by the expression of pure glee on my face....ummm that is glee we see isn't it?
