Fall Holidays

by Twinkles
While the fall is not my favorite season of the year, it certainly contains
my most favorite holidays of the year. As the leaves fall and the temperatures
start going colder, we all shudder and think fondly of building snowmen
and ice skating and bobsleds and all those good things. Along with those
are hot cocoa and a warm fireplace, just the perfect thing for a cold
winter's day or evening.
But I love the holidays that come in with the coming of fall. As soon
as October hits, I look forward to Halloween. We all get to dress up
in wonderful costumes and go from door to door to get yummy treats.
We also get to enjoy the Halloween parties. Oooh boy! I come home with
lots of goodies in my bag!
Then soon Thanksgiving follows and I think fondly of turkey dinners.
I remember the pilgrims and the Indians who shared the first Thanksgiving
together. It was because of them that we have a national holiday to
give thanks, not to mention the beginning of our wonderful country!
I love the Macy parade and wouldn't miss it for the world. We watch
it every year. My thoughts then wander to Christmas and that jolly man
in the red suit, Santa Claws of course, and to getting lots of presents
under my tree! It's a wonderful time of year with such fun in store
for everyone.
Fall need not make you sad. When it gets cold outside, the wind blows,
and the leaves fall. Although we say goodbye to the flowers for awhile,
we get to enjoy some delightful holidays with family and friends. These
holidays help to make fall and winter the warmest times of year. They
are warmed with love.
